Legal information
Terms of Service
The agreement governing your access to and use of Safe Living Search and its related services.These Terms of Service (“Terms”) are a legally binding agreement between you and Compiled Byte, LLC (“Company,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) governing the Safe Living Search website, web application, content, and related services (collectively, the “Service”).
By creating an account, clicking to accept, purchasing search credits, or accessing or using the Service, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
Eligibility and authority
You must be at least 18 years old and legally capable of entering a binding contract to use the Service. If you use the Service for an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind it, and “you” includes that organization. The Service is offered for use in the United States and is not intended where its use would be unlawful.
Accounts and security
You must provide accurate, current information and keep it updated. You may not impersonate another person, share account access, or create an account for someone without authority. You are responsible for your credentials and activity under your account. Notify us promptly at [email protected] if you suspect unauthorized access. We may require email verification or other reasonable steps to protect the Service and its users.
Limited license
Subject to these Terms, we grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable, revocable license to access and use the Service for lawful residential-address research. No ownership rights are transferred to you.
Informational tool; no legal advice or eligibility decision
Safe Living Search is a research tool, not a law firm, government agency, housing authority, screening service, or consumer reporting agency. It does not provide legal advice or determine whether a person may lawfully live at, visit, rent, purchase, supervise, approve, or insure any address. Results, labels, colors, distances, and a clear-looking map are not a legal approval, guarantee, recommendation, or eligibility decision.
The Service and its results are not intended or designed to be “consumer reports” and are not prepared or provided to establish a person’s eligibility for housing, employment, credit, insurance, licensing, or another purpose regulated by the Fair Credit Reporting Act or similar law. You may not use the Service as a tenant-screening or background-screening report, to take an adverse action against a person, or to evade fair-housing, anti-discrimination, consumer-reporting, or notice requirements.
Laws, ordinances, registry requirements, boundary measurements, and enforcement practices vary by person and jurisdiction and may change without notice. Exclusion zones or restrictions on travel, presence, or activity may not be included. You are solely responsible for confirming current requirements and every address with qualified legal counsel and the appropriate government or supervising authority before acting.
Search data and limitations
Results may combine Google Maps content with public, licensed, or Company-maintained directory information. Listings and coordinates may be incomplete, outdated, duplicated, incorrectly categorized, newly opened or closed, or missing. Straight-line estimates do not measure routes or legal distances from parcel or property boundaries. Search settings are user-selected and may not match the rules applicable to a particular person or location. You must independently verify all results.
Acceptable use
You may not, and may not help another person to:
- use the Service unlawfully, fraudulently, or to violate another person’s privacy, civil rights, or other rights;
- harass, threaten, stalk, dox, discriminate against, or facilitate harm to any person;
- use results as the sole basis for housing, employment, credit, insurance, or another decision regulated by law;
- scrape, harvest, systematically download, copy, resell, sublicense, or create a competing database from the Service or its content;
- reverse engineer, bypass access or payment controls, probe for vulnerabilities, introduce malicious code, overload the Service, or interfere with another user;
- use bots or automated means without our written permission, remove notices or attribution, or misrepresent the source or accuracy of results; or
- upload or submit information you lack the right to use.
We may investigate suspected misuse and cooperate with lawful requests from authorities. We may limit, suspend, or terminate access to protect users, third parties, or the Service.
Search credits and payment
Prices, taxes, package sizes, and the number of credits charged are shown at purchase or before a search. Payments are processed by Stripe under its terms. You authorize the displayed charge and agree to provide valid payment information. Search credits are a limited, revocable right to use eligible Service features; they are not money, stored value, property, or transferable, and have no cash value.
New accounts begin with 10 free searches. At midnight Eastern Time each day, the free-search balance resets to 10. Unused daily free searches do not accumulate beyond 10. Free searches are used before purchased or promotional credits, which remain separate and are not reduced by the daily reset. We may modify or discontinue complimentary-credit offers prospectively, subject to applicable law.
Purchased credits do not expire while your account remains open and in good standing, but they may be forfeited when you delete your account or we terminate it for breach. Except where required by law or expressly stated at purchase, completed purchases and used credits are final and non-refundable. If we discontinue the Service, we may provide a refund or reasonable opportunity to use unused purchased credits. Contact us promptly about billing errors; chargeback rights provided by law remain unaffected.
Our Purchase & Refund Policy provides additional information about payment processing, credit delivery, billing errors, refunds, and account deletion.
Third-party services and Google terms
The Service relies on third parties including Google Maps Platform and Stripe. Their services and content are governed by their own terms and privacy policies, and we do not control their availability or practices. By using Google Maps features, you also agree to be bound by the Google Maps/Google Earth Additional Terms of Service . Google’s Privacy Policy and Stripe’s end-user terms also apply to their respective services.
Links to outside resources are provided for convenience and do not imply endorsement. You use third-party services and content at your own risk.
Ownership and feedback
The Service, excluding third-party content, and all associated software, design, text, graphics, trademarks, and other materials are owned by or licensed to Compiled Byte, LLC and protected by law. All rights not expressly granted are reserved. If you submit ideas, corrections, or feedback, you grant us a worldwide, perpetual, irrevocable, royalty-free right to use and incorporate them without restriction or compensation.
If you believe material on the Service infringes your intellectual-property rights, or that a professional or organizational directory listing uses your information without authority, email [email protected] with your contact information, identification of the material, its location on the Service, the basis for your claim, and any supporting documentation. We may request additional information and may remove or restrict material while reviewing a good-faith complaint.
Privacy and electronic communications
Saving search history is enabled by default and can be turned off in Account → Search history. Turning it off stops new history from being saved and leaves existing history intact. You may permanently delete an individual saved search or use Clear all search history to delete all saved history and its results, including older entries. Deleted history cannot be restored through the Service. Clearing history does not disable future saving, delete your account, refund purchases, or restore or reduce search credits.
Search-history controls do not erase all search-related information. Search-operation records, including coordinates, and credit-ledger records remain for accounting and to prevent duplicate charges. The Privacy Policy describes these records, other retention exceptions, and how to request broader deletion.
Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal information, and our Privacy Choices & Data Rights page explains how to submit a request. You agree that we may send electronically the notices, disclosures, receipts, verification messages, security alerts, and other communications relating to the Service. You are responsible for maintaining a current email address and the equipment needed to retain these communications.
Changes, availability, and termination
We may modify, limit, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service, including data sources, features, prices, and credit charges. We do not promise uninterrupted availability. You may stop using the Service at any time or request account deletion using the contact method in our Privacy Policy.
We may suspend or terminate access if you breach these Terms, create risk or legal exposure, fail to pay, or misuse the Service. Where reasonably practicable, we will provide notice. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination—including ownership, payment obligations, disclaimers, liability limits, indemnity, and dispute provisions—will survive.
Disclaimer of warranties
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE SERVICE AND ALL RESULTS AND CONTENT ARE PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE.” THE COMPANY AND ITS LICENSORS DISCLAIM ALL EXPRESS, IMPLIED, AND STATUTORY WARRANTIES, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, ACCURACY, COMPLETENESS, RELIABILITY, SECURITY, AND AVAILABILITY. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE ERROR-FREE OR THAT ANY ADDRESS OR RESULT COMPLIES WITH LAW. SOME JURISDICTIONS DO NOT ALLOW CERTAIN DISCLAIMERS, SO SOME OF THIS SECTION MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU.
Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, COMPILED BYTE, LLC AND ITS MEMBERS, OFFICERS, EMPLOYEES, CONTRACTORS, AGENTS, AFFILIATES, AND LICENSORS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR LOST PROFITS, DATA, OPPORTUNITIES, HOUSING, OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO THE SERVICE, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY.
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THEIR TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID TO COMPILED BYTE, LLC DURING THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM OR (B) $100. THESE LIMITS DO NOT APPLY TO LIABILITY THAT CANNOT LAWFULLY BE LIMITED OR EXCLUDED.
Indemnification
To the extent permitted by law, you agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless the Company and its members, officers, employees, contractors, agents, and affiliates from claims, liabilities, damages, judgments, losses, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising from your misuse of the Service, violation of these Terms or law, or infringement of another person’s rights. We may control the defense of a covered matter, and you agree to cooperate.
Governing law and venue
These Terms are governed by Florida law, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Subject to any non-waivable consumer right, any action arising from these Terms or the Service must be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Orange County, Florida, and each party consents to their personal jurisdiction and venue. The United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods does not apply.
Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms. We will post the revised Terms and effective date and provide additional notice of material changes when required. Changes apply prospectively. Continuing to use the Service after revised Terms become effective constitutes acceptance; if you disagree, stop using the Service and request account deletion before they take effect.
General terms
These Terms and incorporated policies are the entire agreement about the Service and supersede prior understandings. If a provision is unenforceable, it will be modified only as necessary and the rest will remain effective. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. You may not assign these Terms without our written consent; we may assign them in connection with a reorganization, merger, acquisition, or sale of assets. No third party is a beneficiary of these Terms. Headings are for convenience only.
We are not responsible for delay or failure caused by circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including natural disasters, utility or telecommunications failures, labor disputes, war, civil unrest, government action, cyberattacks, third-party platform failures, or Internet outages. This provision does not excuse payment obligations already incurred or limit rights that cannot lawfully be limited.
Contact
Questions, complaints, or legal notices about these Terms may be sent to Compiled Byte, LLC at [email protected]. Email is the designated contact method unless applicable law requires another method.
